Some stories take a lifetime to tell

A 1960s beginning
Roger’s story starts in the Britain of 1967 – a time when adoption looked very different to how it does today. In Part 1, Roger introduces himself and shares what he knows about the circumstances of his birth, the woman who gave him life, and how he came to be placed with the family who would raise him.
He grew up, living what he describes as a normal life with his parents and his older adopted brother. The fact of his adoption was never hidden – it was simply part of who he was from the start.

Are you an adoptee who grew up always knowing? A birth parent reflecting on a decision made decades ago? We’d love to hear from you.
